Is a Lhasa Apso a good family dog?
Bred as a watchdog for Tibet’s royal palaces and temples, Lhasa Apsos are protective but playful family pets. Lhasa Apsos’ instinct is to guard, so these small dogs can be very vocal! A loyal breed, the Lhasa Apso loves nothing more than playing with its “pack” and makes a fun and loving family pet. Neither of these two enjoys being alone, although a Lhasa Apso can handle it much better. Compared to the Shih Tzu, the Lhasa Apso is very agile and outgoing, they have lots of energy that needs to get out at times! Is a Pom a good family dog?
They are good with children. Pomeranians are known to be good with children, making them a great family pet. They are gentle and patient, and they have a playful nature that kids will love. They are intelligent. Affectionate, playful and adaptable, Pomeranians do well in most home environments, getting on well with children and cats. Like other Toy breeds, Pomeranians can be prone to separation anxiety and are best suited for homes where someone will be around for most of the day.Pomeranian personality They are quite intelligent and do well in obedience competitions despite a small independent streak. As they age, they are more amenable to being truly lap dogs. Do poms sleep a lot?
Adults – Adult Poms (1 year and older) should be sleeping through the night, essentially mimicking their owner’s sleep schedule. This gives them 7 to 8 hours to snooze. During the day, a few naps will be taken to bring the total hours of sleep to 12 to 14. Many dogs reserve their naps for when they are home alone. Adult Poms (1-year-old+) can be comfortable independently for 6-8 hours. If your Pomeranian suffers from anxiety disorders, particularly Pomeranian separation anxiety, he shouldn’t be on his own for longer than 5 hours before you give him extensive training so he can cope for 6-8 hours.
Can Lhasa Apso eat human food?
Dogs should never be fed too much human food. But how much is too much? No more than 10% of your dog’s diet should be treats—including human food—according to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. Just because food is good for us doesn’t necessarily mean it’s safe for dogs. Certain human food items must never be fed to Pomeranian dogs, such as macadamias, walnuts, pecans, grapes, currants, raisins, chives, leeks, shallots, garlic, onions, chocolate, coffee grounds, and cinnamon.
