Find Your Perfect Companion: American Golden Retriever Australia – Unveiling the Wysiwyg Golden Retrievers in Inala QLD

Growing up in a family deeply involved in the dog world, I have always been surrounded by different breeds. From Cocker Spaniels to English Setters, our household was full of incredible dogs that we showed with great success. As a child, I had the opportunity to be hands-on with the breeding process, even helping deliver my first litter when I was only eight years old. I vividly remember the joy and sadness that came with watching each puppy go to their new homes. It was an experience that shaped my love for dogs and breeding, and despite the bittersweet moments, I knew that this was a hobby I would continue for years to come.

One important aspect of my journey with dogs has been my involvement in dog showing. It has always been a passion of mine, and I have poured my heart and soul into training and showcasing our beloved breeds. I started participating in junior handling competitions, where the rules stated that I could only win three times with the same breed. After accomplishing this feat twice, I set out to find a new breed to work with. That’s when someone suggested a Golden Retriever, and I instantly knew it was the breed I wanted to pursue.

I was fortunate enough to come across Ch. Alubyc SS Enterprise, fondly known as Harry. Together, we achieved a great deal of success in the show ring. But what I truly longed for was a “Harry Pup” of my own. My wish finally came true when I welcomed Ch. Abshe Excel, Harry’s grandson, into my life. This marked the beginning of my journey with Golden Retrievers, and I quickly fell in love with their incredible personalities and stunning appearances.

In 1997, I made history by being the first person to introduce an American Import Golden Retriever to the Australian show scene. This was a significant moment for me and opened up a new chapter in my breeding endeavors. Since then, I have brought five more American Golden Retrievers to the Australian show rings, each with their own success stories. The journey doesn’t stop there, as I have my sights set on several future prospects to continue improving the breed in our kennels.

Throughout the years, my dogs have garnered numerous awards, both in show and in group competitions. These achievements have come from owned and bred dogs of WYSIWYG, our kennel name. We have had the privilege of showcasing our dogs under the watchful eyes of international, interstate, and local judges. My family’s history in show judging runs deep, with my grandfather being an international all breeds judge and past CCCQ Councillor. His experiences and knowledge have shaped my own journey, and I am proud to stand alongside him as a licensed championship show judge for gundogs, sporting group, terriers, hounds, working, and utility group.

However, my passion doesn’t just stop at judging and showcasing dogs. My partner, Duncan, is also an all breeds judge, and we enjoy both the judging commitments and the thrill of showing our dogs together. With our combined expertise and love for the breeds, we strive to contribute to their future and continue the legacy of our family tradition.

Being part of the dog world for generations has given me a wealth of knowledge and a deep appreciation for the breeds I work with. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue on this path, furthering my passion in this hobby, and actively contributing to the betterment of the breeds. As my children grow, I am confident that the fun and knowledge of the dog world will be passed down to them just as it was to me. Breeding, showing, and caring for these incredible animals is not just a hobby for me; it’s a way of life that brings endless joy and fulfillment. And as my mum always reminds me, “We can’t keep them all!”
