I can’t express how lucky I feel to be a breeder of Golden Retrievers. Not only do I get to witness the incredible journey of these dogs, but I also have the opportunity to train gun dogs. It’s a dream come true for me. Growing up in Grand Junction, Colorado, I always had a special connection with animals. When I moved to the Denver/Ft. Collins area after high school, I continued to surround myself with dogs and learn more about their behavior.

Nowadays, I’m involved in various activities including shows, hunt tests, agility competitions, and dog training programs. My passion for Golden Retrievers led me to start breeding them with great dedication and care. I source these incredible dogs from all over the U.S., ensuring that only the best genetics make their way into our breeding program.

As we speak, we are in the midst of creating a training facility in Grove, Oklahoma. The landscape offers everything a dog could wish for – sprawling acreage and ponds for them to frolic in. It’s a paradise for our furry friends. Building this facility has been a labor of love, and we can’t wait for it to be fully operational.

The story of Shaffer Goldens actually began when my husband expressed his desire for a hunting dog. We had always had working ranch dogs, mainly Border Collies, but it was time to expand our horizons. That’s when our good friend, Jamie Beckett at BR Goldens, came into the picture and introduced us to Goose, our first Golden Retriever. Instantly, we fell head over heels for this breed.

There is something incredibly special about Golden Retrievers. They have this unique ability to touch your soul and teach you life lessons. For me, the Golden Retriever taught me the “Golden Rules.” I learned how to share the bed without hesitation, eat their hair with pleasure, and believe that everything is retrievable – in both the metaphorical and literal sense.

Thanks to my husband Rick’s unwavering support, my love for Golden Retrievers blossomed. Together, we have become proud breeders of the best hunting, service, dock diving, agility, and search and rescue dogs around. We have big dreams, and we can’t wait to embark on new adventures, showing off the incredible potential of our Golden Retrievers.
